All-optical logic gate computing for high-speed parallel information processing

Optical computing and optical neural network have gained increasing attention in recent years because of their potential advantages parallel processing at the speed light low power consumption by comparison with electronic computing. The implementation fundamental building blocks a digital computer, i.e. logic gates, has been investigated extensively past few decades. gate is an alternative approach to various analogue architectures. In this paper, latest development different kinds implementations reviewed. Firstly, basic concepts gates domains are introduced. And then comprehensive summary schemes including spatial encoding field, semiconductor amplifiers (SOA), highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF), microscale nanoscale waveguides, photonic crystal structures presented. To conclude, formidable challenges developing practical all-optical analyzed prospects future discussed.
